Request for CBPA UGA staff to review student degree plan proposal

Students using this process for advisor holds should note that requests sent after 7 March 2014 cannot be guaranteed that it will be reviewed in time for Fall 2014 registration. Requests can be submitted in this interim period but students should also seek an advisor meeting if a hold needs to be removed. All students seeking advisor hold assistance should contact the CBPA UGA office BusinessAdvising@odu.edu to determine options or view the schedules for walk-in advising (only for continuing students, not new transfers starting in Spring 2014) as posted to the CBPA website: http://bpa.odu.edu/bpa/academics/advising/.

  • This is a request to the College of Business and Public Administration staff to review a student's degree plan proposal in Degree Works.

  • Due to the number of requests that come in, we ask that students allow for up to 1-3 weeks for this process to be completed.

  • In Degree Works, complete a Degree Plan by using the planner option and then submit a request that the advisor hold be removed with a submitted degree plan proposal. For instructions on creating a Degree Plan, examples, and online submission, visit http://ww2.bpa.odu.edu/bpa/academics/advising/degreeplans.shtml.

  • After your Plan is received, an advisor will review your Plan and contact you with any changes or suggestions to improve your plan. Your advisor hold will then be removed up to one year prior to your graduation as long as you maintain an overall and CBK GPA greater than a 2.3. (It will be reinstated if the GPA drops below the 2.3 threshold.)
  •    o Please note: We will NOT be vetting your degree plan. If there are problems that arise during your academic career you are still able to meet with an academic advisor, however, the responsibility of completing your courses and obtaining your degree remains yours.

  • Any questions you may have in regards to this process or Degree Plans can be sent to BusinessAdvising@odu.edu.

  • Please note that during peak advising seasons, this process might be temporarily put on hold to accommodate more short-term student needs.
